We feed the HPW complete diet.

There are many diets out there, but I've found that my gliders have always like HPW and it's usually the first thing gone off the plate.

You will need a minimum cage of 2ft wide x 2 ft deep x 3ft tall with a maximum 1/2 inch wide bar space.

Cage supplies will include a fleece sleeping pouch, bonding pouch, food dishes, Stealth or wodent wheel, plastic toys (bird or hamster are good, but nothing with strings or wood),cat toys cat also be used but nothing with catnip as it is toxic to gliders, and a cage cover to keep out drafts.

Bedding is not nessesary.  A fleece over the bottom of the cage may be used.  I use carefresh bedding, and it really cuts back on the odors, but some gliders may try to injest this so use caution. Pine and cedar are very bad and should not be used for bedding or in toys as they can cause respiratory problems.

Another great purchase is a tent for playtime.  This keeps the gliders contained and safe.  This also gives them a good chance to bond with you better.

A few things you should know when considering a sugar glider as a pet.
Gliders are social animals and need companionship to live long and happy lives.  Gliders NEED companionship of their own kind and without it their quality of life will deminish and they could also cause themselves harm through self mutilation. We offer discounts if you adopt a pair.

Gliders take about 3 months to one year to completely bond with a new owner and it takes a lot of work to get them used to you.  Buying a "tame" glider does not mean that you do not have to put a lot of effort into them.
Male gliders reach sexual maturity at about 4 months oop, and females at 6-8 months oop.  They can reproduce at this age and unless you are planning to breed, then the male must be neutered.
